1. We would love to know more about you, Giacomo. Your journey and how you got into the blockchain space.
It was a cloudy day back in 2017 when a man comes into my church (yes, my office it’s inside a Byzantine temple) and is asking me if I could help him by growth hacking his cryptocurrency. I was shocked because I had just heard about this when Ross Ulbricht had been arrested. After 30 minutes meeting I didn’t accept the request because he wanted to pay with tokens. 2 months later I read on the Financial Times that he collected 22M$, then I decided to get into this!
2. What do you look for in a blockchain project when you decide to go for an advisory role?
I only care about technology. I’m looking for a disruptive one, able to change the world of payments or delete the middle man. I’m not a big fan of individuals who run an ICO just because it’s cool, I’m more into technology with a disruptive spirit.
3. We noticed that you have a considerable pull in Growth Hacking. Could you explain more about that aspect?
Growth Hacking it’s a fascinating discipline that helps marketers, entrepreneurs and CEO to achieve big with an unconventional approach. Nowadays more than ever ICOs are looking for investors and crypto-enthusiasts and since the major Ads display networks have banned crypto-related post they need to squeeze their mind and come up with some clever ideas in order to avoid these bans. Growth hacking is the answer.
4. There was a recent crash in the crypto market. What are your views about that?
I’ve lost almost 90% of my assets but I don’t care. I believe in blockchain over the speculation of cryptocurrencies during the ICO boom in 2017.
5. What projects are you an Advisor for at the moment?
I’m an advisor in 101 projects so far and I’ve collected about 18.4M$. It’s more than all the Italian investment funds altogether.
6. Can you tell us more about Black Marketing Guru?
Black Marketing Guru, it’s the biggest European Growth Hacking Company with 3.5M$ turnover and 30 employers. We’ve been contacted by a lot of ICO in 2017 so we decided to create a spin-off called BlackChain and offering 360° services to ICO and STO.
7. What are your views about the rising security token markets?
STOs are the future. I’m overwhelmed by requests from traditional companies who don’t want to go for an IPO but still need liquidity for their blockchain businesses and STO is the only way they have. I hope soon in Europe they may design a law to help companies to build their own STO easily.
8. What shortcomings are there in the blockchain space? How can we overcome them?
Security’s the biggest issue we are facing and Exchanges are the second problem. As long as we keep on losing money over exchanges, wallets and ICO, we’ll not spot any new investors in this market.
9. What do you see the year 2019 holding for blockchain projects?
In 2019 we’ll see BTC and ETH still bearing but, on the other side, companies will increase the investment in technology and people will get more confident with blockchain than cryptocurrencies.
Any last motivational words for the audience from your side Giacomo?
Blockchain revolution looks like the Startup revolution in 2000 and we’re really lucky to work during this period. I suggest you focus your attention on the actual startup shortcomings that can be fixed with the blockchain and start to develop.
